Hotel Merchandise: Branded Items for Guests, Staff and the Shop
How to plan hotel merchandise: what to brand for guests, front-of-house and kitchen staff and a lobby shop, how to keep the logo welcome, and which catalogue items fit.
By Zintora Team

Hotel merchandise is branded items a hotel uses with three audiences: guests, staff and visitors to a lobby shop. Typical choices are mugs and glasses for rooms and bars, umbrellas for the door, tote bags, keyrings and aprons for kitchen and bar teams. Start with what guests actually use, such as our Cobble Ceramic Mug for rooms and the shop.
This guide splits hotel merchandise by audience, shows which catalogue products fit each one, and covers branding, quantities and timing. Every product below comes from the live Zintora catalogue on 28 October 2026.
Three audiences for hotel merchandise
A hotel is unusual because its branded items do three different jobs at once. Planning them separately keeps the budget focused.
| Audience | Purpose | Typical items | Where it is seen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guests in the hotel | Make the stay feel considered | Mugs, glasses, umbrellas at the door | Rooms, bar, entrance |
| Staff | Look like one team, work comfortably | Aprons, kitchen caps, shirts | Restaurant, kitchen, reception |
| Lobby shop and gifts | Let guests take the brand home | Tote bags, mugs, keyrings | Shop shelf, packed in a suitcase |
It often makes sense to start with one audience, such as staff or the lobby shop, and add the others once the logo and colours are settled.

Merchandise for guests during the stay
In the room and at the bar
A branded mug in the room or a branded glass at the bar is the simplest way to make a hotel feel like its own place rather than a chain. The Cobble Ceramic Mug is a glossy 300 ml ceramic mug with a C-shaped handle and space for a full wraparound design or a simple logo beside the handle. It comes in white, black, green and yellow. The Clear Glass Tumbler suits the bar or the room: the capacity, finish, protective packaging and permitted washing are agreed before production and confirmed in writing. More mug options are on the printed mugs page.
At the door
A rack of branded umbrellas by the entrance is practical in the UK and puts the logo on the street every time a guest borrows one. The Custom Rain Umbrella has space for your logo; the diameter, opening mechanism, handle and a print check on the panel are agreed before production. Some hotels lend them, others sell them in the shop. For more on choosing umbrellas, see our guide to branded umbrellas.
Merchandise for staff
Staff clothing is where a hotel's brand is seen most, by every guest at every meal. It also has the hardest job: it is washed often and worn on long shifts.
Restaurant and bar
The Custom Bistro Apron has a pocket and suits restaurant, bar and breakfast teams. The fabric, length, pocket and how well the marking stands up to washing are agreed before production, which matters for an item that goes through a commercial laundry. Our guide to custom aprons for hospitality covers fabrics, pockets and logo placement in more detail.
Kitchen
The Kitchen Cap is a lightweight cap for kitchen and catering teams, made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton and weighing about 20 g. It comes in white and black and can be embroidered or branded by transfer. A small embroidered logo keeps the kitchen team in line with front of house.
Reception and front of house
Reception teams usually need shirts or polos rather than aprons. The branded workwear page covers shirts, polos and other workwear in the catalogue, with the same logo and colours as the rest of the team.
Merchandise for a lobby shop
A small shop by reception lets guests take the hotel home. Items that work well in a hotel shop have a story: a mug from the room, a tote bag for the train home, a keyring as a small souvenir.
- Metro Tote Bag: a heavyweight 340 g/m² cotton canvas bag with cross-stitched handles, a zipped inner pocket and a flat base. It comes in natural, black, forest green and navy blue, with screen printing or embroidery. More bags are on the printed tote bags page.
- Cobble Ceramic Mug: the same mug guests used in their room.
- Custom Everyday Keyring: a compact keyring as a small item at the till.
Set the shop price from the total in the quote, including branding and delivery, not from the price of the bare product.
Designing hotel merchandise
A hotel brand is often more subtle than a corporate logo. Merchandise should feel like part of the stay, not an advert.
- Use the hotel's name or monogram, not a full logo with a strapline.
- Keep to the hotel's own colours. Natural canvas, white ceramic and black aprons suit most interiors.
- Think about the setting. A large logo on a bar glass can look like a promotion; a small mark near the rim feels designed.
- For staff, prioritise legibility. A guest should be able to read the hotel name on an apron from across the room.
Send your logo as a vector file (PDF, SVG or EPS). You approve the technique, position and size on a digital proof before production starts, and nothing is produced until you approve it.
Quantities and reorders
Hotels reorder often: staff change, aprons wear out and shop items sell. Keep a record of the product reference, colours and the approved proof, and say in your first request that you expect to reorder. That way the next batch matches the first. Quantities for staff clothing should include a few extra in the common sizes.
Check each product's minimum against your real need. Keyrings and glass tumblers start at 100, mugs at 48, aprons and totes at 50, and kitchen caps at 25. A group of hotels can combine an order across properties to reach a minimum.
Lead times and delivery
Production takes 10 to 20 working days after proof approval, confirmed in the quote. Add time for the quote, the digital proof and delivery. For a seasonal opening or a refurbishment, plan the order back from the date the items are needed. Zintora delivers across the UK and internationally to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, to one hotel or to each property.
Sustainability questions
Guests notice what a hotel chooses, and many hotel groups report on purchasing. Ask with the quote for material details, an estimated carbon footprint per product and documentation for certified products. The only certificate we name is the GRS of The Tenth House, checked per lot; certificates for other products are available on request. More on our approach is on the sustainability page.

Frequently asked questions
What is hotel merchandise?
Branded items a hotel uses for guests, staff and a lobby shop: mugs and glasses, umbrellas, tote bags, keyrings, aprons and kitchen caps.
What hotel merchandise do guests keep?
Items they use during the stay and can take home: a mug from the room, a tote bag or a small keyring. Practical items with a discreet logo are kept longest.
How much does hotel merchandise cost?
It depends on the products, the branding and the quantity for each audience. Request a quote with your logo and numbers; it gives the total, including branding and delivery, and that total is also the figure to set shop prices from.
Can aprons and caps go through a commercial laundry?
The fabric and how well the marking stands up to washing are agreed before production for the apron, and the composition of the Kitchen Cap is on its product page. Tell us how the items are washed when you request a quote.
How long does it take?
Production takes 10 to 20 working days after proof approval, plus delivery. The exact schedule is in the quote.
